GROW Windham’s Youth Development Coordinator is a passionate youth and community/food system advocate who coordinates and facilitates our youth programming, which supports youth to build their voices and power in the Willimantic area. The Youth Development Coordinator supports local youth to design, lead, and fully participate in all of GROW Windham programming, as well as to have a voice and role in community collaborations and with partner organizations.The Youth Development Coordinator is mentored and supervised by the Director of Programs, and works alongside the Community Farmer and youth staff to plan and co-facilitate GROW Windham’s youth programming, including:
➢ The Windham Youth CORE
➢ The Windham Youth Network
➢ Managing and maintaining GROW Windham’s Thread City Family Garden
➢ Collaborating with area schools and youth programs (short-term and long-term)
➢ Networking with other youth social justice programs across the region
Hours: Average of 30 hours/week. Hours vary depending on the season, peaking at 35-40 hours per week during the summer program (July-August).
Salary: $20-$25/hour, DOE. This is a staff position with PTO and no further benefits.
Special Requirements: Must be 21 or older (no maximum age), and eligible to work in the U.S.
Education Level: High School Diploma or GED
Other Requirements:
● Physical ability to walk, lift 50lbs, bend, and participate in garden maintenance activities.
● A flexible schedule, must be able to work Saturday mornings and weekday evenings throughout the year.
● Driver’s license and personal transportation are helpful but not essential.
GROW Windham offers internships to community members and students who want to impact their community while developing skills, gaining meaningful job experience, and/or earning course credit.
